This is a really tough Saturday with some big fields and plenty of good horses to choose from. However, putting my head on the block again:

Newmarket 2.40: Good Old Boy Lukey 4/1

    York 2.55: Stencive 5/1

Newmarket 3.15: Burn the Boats 9/1

Newmarket 3.50: Gale Force Ten 11/2

Cheers twin daughters have suddenly announced they are going to York so I shall advise them to follow the Haggas......

One point having not really followed the nags for decades when did flat jockeys get so large the lowest weight I can see is 8-6 - in my day I'm sure it was 7 stone?

Tell your twin daughters to get on Graham Lee's rides today at York. He's flying at the moment and there should be a winner or two in there. Stencive looks like his best ride of the day but discount the others at your peril.

Perhaps he should have started flying just a little sooner on your second leg??

No luck with Shea Shea, so now hoping Commend can do the business at Ascot 4.50.

Out of luck today. Much preferred the July Meeting in its midweek format of yesteryear.

There used to be a distinctive garden party type feeling back then whilst this afternoon felt much more like a standard Saturday afternoon on the July course.

Too much racing today really !

                  Can't win 'em all Alison.
That Petrushka had better buck his ideas up,one winner isn't good enough,he promised box sets.

One winner's better than none! And as Alison says there was too much racing today and one winner was hard enough to find never mind four. You could have got a boxed set if you had put £10 win on Good Old Boy Lukey at 4/1as I did. And Stencive came so close. I'm reverting back to my previous method of placing single £10 win bets on my selections as these accumulators are for the benefit of the bookies only.

                      Only joking Pet.
I appreciate your efforts, please keep the tips coming.
Like I said,it's just a bit of fun for me and if there are any returns it's a bonus.

A great shame Stencive didn't quite make it! That would have given Pet a tasty double.

Mind you trust the splendid William Haggas to get both the first and second at York. How obvious the forecast bet seems now!

Two great rides from Ryan Moore to get the Fahey horses up at Newmarket.

                          I know you were

The late running of the Prom on Friday didn't give me as much time as I would have liked to gather my Saturday selections together. A 10 race card on Channel 4 made it even more difficult.

Yes, it's a bit of fun and I enjoy it especially when the bookies hand over more cash to me than I gave them. My usual method of placing £10 win bets on three horses seems to yield more dividends than doubles & trebles etc in that I consistently make a profit (not much yesterday, I admit). If I have some extra confidence I might do a £5 win double but they rarely come off.

I'd be interested to hear of Alison's method and if it manages to generate a profit.

                            2.40 Newbury: Dick Doughtywylie 11/2

                            2.55 Market Rasen: Barizan 13/2

3.30 Market Rasen: Galaxy Rock 8/1

                            3.50 Newbury: Peniaphobia 9/1

Interesting outsider: 3.30 Market Rasen: Bocciani 12/1

Will this be a Saturday I either kick myself for not placing a bet or breathe a sigh of relief?
In Coronation Street (sorry, I confess to watching it and I know it's not real!) a character placed an accumulator of £500, all horses came in, he won £35,000 - and Barlow's Bookies faces bankruptcy!
Do you know anyone who has staked, and won, such a large amount?

Yes indeed there have been such cases but they are very rare and you would need the most incredible luck for it to happen. You can win big on the Scoop 6 and while I know of it happening I certainly don't know anyone personally who has done so. With all accumulators the odds are stacked heavily against you which is why I'm happier doing single win bets and making a consistent profit out of it.

Not sure a bookies would face bankruptcy from a big payout in this day and age, though.
