          Well,if we're doing horse jokes.

          I had a bet on a horse,it went off at 25 to 1.
The only problem was that all the other horses went off at 12:30.

Just as funny are the names of some horses. My own laugh out loud favourite was a horse called Notanotherdonkey.

My tentative selections for Saturday's racing are as follows:

Newmarket 2.20 Sunny Harbor (currently 7/1 with Bet365)

              Newcastle 3.15 Tominator (8/1)

              Newmarket 3.30 Ultrasonic (13/2)

Interesting outsider: Newcastle 2.40 Baby Strange (10/1)

All subject to change following any tips from Alison.

looks like a super heinz or a Goliath Round Robin Union Jack to me, Pet.

                  Lucky 15 is the one.
                  15 bets,4 singles,6 doubles,4 trebles and a 4 timer.
You've talked me into it Pet.

Putting a lot of pressure on me here. ER! Don't blame me if it all goes pear-shaped.

Even I can understand a Lucky 15 so will have a go on one myself.

As someone who has never placed a bet I only know two, win or each way. What are singles, doubles and trebles and a four timer? Words of one syllable please!

                          Hi Anna.

A single is a win bet on one selection.
A double is a win bet on two selections,so if the first one wins the winnings effectively become a win bet on the second selection.
Similarly with a treble and four timer (or accumulator),so horse A wins the return goes on to horse B,if that wins it goes to horse C and so on.

So for a lucky 15 you pick four horses covering all possible combinations.

Some bookies offer bonuses too,10% bonus if all four win and double the odds on a win bet if only one horse wins.

but a reverse forecast is not when the BBC get the weather wrong.

Thanks Rob, all is now clear! Seems like a recipe for disaster and an instant loss of money though if one of your nags falls over or is a no-show and you lose the lot!
I shall be very interested later to see how Petrushka and you got on with your selections.
