Well, at least NK's rocket launch failed ...
It isn't given us to know those rare moments when people are wide open and the lightest touch can wither or heal. A moment too late and we can never reach them any more in this world.

Pound has been rising against the euro and the yen.

Bad news is that that makes staycations less necessary/attractive.

Dragged out of bed this morn at eight am by the meter reader. Then they started machinery for a pedestrian crossing right outside. Sounded like some giant cosmic stapler and shook the building - I thought WW3 had begun!

[This line of reasoning, of course, is invalid if M-ways are less safe than other routes which would have had the reverse effect had it not been Friday 13th ... ]

Sun shone as I cycled down to Brixton, yet I got a soaking on the way home. And the only cashpoint on the route was closed.

Anyone would think it was Friday the 13th, till you told them different.

Well, it's Friday the 13th and yet I'm going to the Sidcup Beer Festival tonight!

                            That's called a paradox.
