Mr Cram (I wonder if he had to to get into university) says -

it was important to raise the profile of sport throughout the university sector rather than just concentrate on a handful of sport-focussed institutions like Loughborough and the University of Bath.

      Why?

“I think we should be offering more ... sports scholarships and yes, bend a little bit if someone’s exam results aren’t quite what we want them to be,” ... “Where we maybe haven’t caught up (with the US) .. in the education sector is in accepting that there is nothing wrong with having a good sports programme,” he added, pointing out many US universities attract top students because of their sporting prowess.

Isn't there a tiny contradiction here?

& haven't degrees been devalued enough?

        1 - No

        2 - Debatable, I agree

3 - Thankfully not. That pillock Oldfield was nowhere near.

I see he has a book coming out 'The Queen vs Trenton Oldfield'. I wonder if it will be as illiterate as his pathetic 'manifesto' that he published in a feeble attempt to justify his anti-social action?

I've always been a great fan of The Boat Race! And a Cambridge fan asd well. My father went to Queen's College, so I have to be!!

I( thought this year, what with those events of last year, was a good tactical race. i think in afterthought , that the best team one on the day, and look forward to next year!

Pity - they're the only things that make it interesting.

At a city farm in East London ( It it wasn't named on the C4 News ) there was the fifth Oxford and Cambridge Goat Race, held over what looked like a tricky course.
                Cambridge won.
                I miss John Snagge.

It's a bit like a football competition in which only Man U and Arsenal were allowed to compete.
