    The Olympic Torch Route

I've just checked the route of the Olympic Torch through Chichester on July 16th, and have seen that it finishes at:-

A285 Portfield Way entrance to Pizza Hut
Hardly appropriate is it? You would have thought that they would have stopped at the local sports centre, or perhaps the Cathedral, but Pizza Hut?

There is a great feeling in our bit of Cornwall that the less pretty parts of the county are been missed out. This also coincides with the area which a certain former MP, closely now linked to the Olympics, lost his seat in 1997.

Given that Coca Cola is a major sponsor of the Olympics (& has been since the 1920s), & Macdonalds is a major 'food' outlet at the games, Pizza Hut seems entirely appropriate. I wonder how much they had to pay to get the TV coverage?

Yep, it's coming through Coupar Angus and they'll start at the park and finish across from the chicken factory. Anabolic steroids at the ready.

I assume that you're a Domino's man then, Mr Pee?

I just think that it is all the most sinful waste of money.

I presume then it'll be passing through Dundee - there's certainly plenty of junk food outlets for it to visit.

I must check the date, to ensure I'm not in the vicinity. My views on this whole sorry Olympic affair chime exactly with Lateralthinking1's.

                      DominO's:- Pizza.

                      DominOEs:- P.G.Wodehouse.

So that doesn't really work, Mahlerei. Nice try though.

Anyway, I prefer Pizza Express. Or the Waitrose own label ones, to cook at home. The Spicy Pepperoni is particularly yummy.

I would like to see a route starting at Stornoway and instead of a torch the runners should carry a Sat Nav programmed for the shortest route to the stadium (avoiding motorways). It would be more fun than any of the actual events.

It would be even more fun if the route DID include motorways!!

Well the route just about passes within 10 miles of my house, but only for one of the bits marked "Convoy", which presumably means they'll be belting along the A40. Unless they get stuck behind a tractor.

Sounds like a job for "Das Boot".
