I love Brendel's version with added vocals, from his farewell concert....

A question for the wise owls on the board: it just struck me what that enigmatic slow movement of k.482 reminded me of: Beethoven's 'Marcia Funebre' from the Eroica symphony. I'm talking about the opening leading up to the intro of the piano.
It loved to happen. -- Marcus Aurelius

I'm not claiming to be one of those wise owls you were hoping to lure out of the thicket, but I took your bait nonetheless and have just played that movement. I wouldn't have got Eroica unless you had pointed it out but I think I can see what you mean. The first two notes gave me the Andante from the Brahms Sextet op 18 and then I was getting "Oh thou that tellest" from Messiah.

I'm going to hear K488 in Cardiff tomorrow, played by Paul Lewis with CBSO/Nelsons (plus Flying Dutchman, Beethoven 7)

Will do - the weather's a bit iffy but we'll set off along the M4 regardless

See "What was your last concert" for review.

BTW, there will be a performance of 9 in Cardiff on 8 May, Lise de la Salle with Philharmonia/A Davis, sadly I can't go.
