Speaking of Welsh weather presenters, I was always sorry to see the last of the lady on ITV1 whose hand movements were... something of a turn on, televisually speaking. The one with whom Limpet Optic dated for a while - undoubtedly a man of exquisite taste.

You mean Siân Lloyd. She got over being dumped by him and has been married to someone involved in motor racing for the past 5 years. It does seem rather strange that Limpet preferred one of The Cheeky Girls to her doesn't it ........

We are truly off topic, the subject was modern day stuff that drives you mad. Most of mine have been mentioned (automated calls urging claims for PPI, pressing 1 for this and 2 for that and wondering if you will ever speak to a human) but my worst one is txt spk. When I text I spell words correctly, insert punctuation, and if I get a msg in txt spk I cannot be bothered to reply to such garbage.

And the ones that are happy to bursting point to tell you that the weekend is going to be xxxx.

I rather liked DC. Well,he made me laugh with his balletic dancing about and when he pointed I always said "It's rude to point" as my mum invariably said to me. The Royals are allowed to point I notice.

Where's John Skelton to ask a searching question of Mr Pee?

Well, it depends on what you mean by 'academic'. It helped reduce the geographic distance between us, & gave us something to talk about on the 'phone, when I could correct the misleading forecast he'd seen, & tell him what it was really like. Since he died last year I've rather missed our weather-based chats, which usually went on to cover what was happening in the garden. So not really 'academic' at all.

Spot on - I would put "box sets" into room 101.
