I don't really like bigging up any bank, but customer service at First Direct is excellent.

Though they are exploitive capitalist scum like all the rest.

All the rest of what or whom? Just banks? Or all other businesses?

Customer service at Coutts & Co. is consistently excellent, in my experience. I've been with them for 24 years now and I've still not yet been able to work out why they want to retain me as a customer, but I ain't complainin'. Yes, they're expensive but at least they work for the charges that they impose.

Anyway, to answer the question posed by the thread topic, for me it has to be advertising of almost all kinds, though some far more than others.
