I have to say that none of my ex partners have shared my musical interests, nor I theirs. Hence cordless headphones. However, I don't think it really matters, one would not wish to be a clone of someone else as regards music, literature, etc., in fact, would it not get rather boring to agree on everything? As a singleton I could swop the word partner for best friend or family or cat I suppose - the answer is still no!
Edit: S_A, that is so funny!

But it would be really nice, I agree, to feel that musical oneness with someone and not have to subjucate your interests to theirs.

Handsome Husband and I have areas of overlap in our musical tastes, but we do divirge when it comes to classical. We both like folk of the Martin Carthy, John Renbourn type; also traditional Celtic stuff. He also likes some Early Music but is not fond of anything after Beethoven. He likes rock and pop much more than I do. He likes to listen to stuff on his i-pod; I listen to the radio or online (BBC R3).

Anna - r e l a x ... it is our Willie [sonnet 116]
Let me not to the marriage of true mindes
Admit impediments, loue is not loue
Which alters when it alteration findes,
Or bends with the remouer to remoue:
O no, it is an euer fixed marke
That lookes on tempefts and is neuer fhaken;
It is the ftar to euery wandring barke,
Whofe worths vnknowne, although his higth be taken.
Lou's not Time's foole, though rofie lips and cheeks
Within his bending fickles compaffe come,
Loue alters not with his breefe houres and weekes,
But beares it out euen to the edge of doome:
If this be error and vpon me proued,
I neuer writ, nor no man euer loued.

Well, if anyone is interested.........
Mrs TS and I share a taste for the following:
Baroque, some renaissance and some classical, as well as some C20 English classical (EG RVW ).
Also some folk, (bellowhead, Oysters, Eliza Carthy, that sort of thing). Also some of the music of our youth, most especially XTC (who I recommend to all of you), B-52's, The Men They Couldn't Hang, that sort of stuff.
she doesn't really do some of the heavier end of romantic, or the more dissonant parts of the C20 rep.
Basically, I have to search it out, and work it in , under the radar, give it 2 or 3 plays in the background, and see if it flicks any switches.
To be fair, she is pretty "allowing", though chunks of what I choose to listen to are" kitchen only " territory.
However, as ever with music, the sharing of it is a huge part of the pleasure. Its a journey !!
(as others have mentioned, she has more of a taste for quiet than I do !)I will not be pushed, filed, stamped, indexed, briefed, debriefed or numbered. My life is my own.
I am not a number, I am a free man.
