I would imagine that the advent of the iplayer (or Listen Again) has changed the way people listen to the radio (a new class?). I certainly "dip in" to realtime broadcasts within the time constraints of commuting in the car or other availability to listen. I then return via iplayer to programmes I wish to listen to all the way through, particularly (but not exclusively) the jazz output which has largely been relegated to the post midnight slot.
