No it isn't. It's true that the act of observation appears to affect behaviour at a quantum level but this is but one hypothesis among others that might explain such changes that are observed, although nobody has yet (to my knowledge) managed a watertight explanation of the causation of them.

      Simon,
I've had two comments from you within the last few days, perhaps God exists after all !
I would certainly not deny that there are arguable hypotheses within quantum physics, and that there are features that we may never understand, I was simply suggesting that there is no need to bring the deity into the quantum world, not even you !

This is certainly mysterious, but there is no reason to posit a supernatural cause.
To be fair, I don't think that religious people often invoke the mysteries of quantum physics to justify their beliefs, but all sorts of cultists do. It's a convenient let out for supporters of the paranormal.
I think plenty of people just look at the stuff they can understand about quantum physics, listen to "experts", and think that all may not be as simple as "Aetheism or religion".
There is a hell of a lot we don't understand about the universe and the way it works, and being open to the uncertainties and possibilities is a very positive approach, in my view.
I will not be pushed, filed, stamped, indexed, briefed, debriefed or numbered. My life is my own.

          I'm not a deity!

I agree with you, in terms of it not helping us to understand them. They are there to be observed by atheist, agnostic, buddhist and christian alike, and we see the same results. The laws of physics seem to have been set and immutable since, well, since before we can remember!

I expect we'd differ on the reason for their origin, but let's not!

May I ask, teamsaint, if you are in fact two people? Is that where the "team" bit comes from?

I ask because many of your posts I find, IIMSS, to be amongst the most ludicrous and extreme that I read, and yet others, as the one above, seem to be the epitome of reasonableness, common sense and intelligence.

Is that the eqivelant of being slapped in the face while being shaken by the hand? I'm surprised ha hasn't put you on 'ignore', ts, but perhaps he feels it's worth putting up with the former to be able to read the latter.

you have rumbled me Simes . I am teamsaint, and so is my wife !!(to steal a quote).
as Was not Was said "speak from your Brain and and not just your heart". Sometimes we do one, sometimes the other. As long as we learn and share, things have a chance of going the right way.

Edit : it was the B 52's , not "Was not Was".
Though no doubt Simon would have picked up on this !!

                    Indeed.

May I say what a pleasure it is to meet whichever sections of you both that I agree with!

Well maybe not Simon, but you do rather enjoy handing down judgements in Old Testament fashion, leaving us poor mortals in fear and trembling!

but I can say with certainty that Simon is NOT a Christian either
