true, you couldn't afford to. A prog rock double would cost a good few weeks pocket money in those days, and no minimum wage for teenage workers.decisions had to be carefully considered. No wonder the vigin megastore took off.

Anyone remember those postal second hand record exchanges? think there was a good one in wales .

The first I ever bought was the wonderful grey rocks /blue sky, Mount Rushmore style, of Deep Purple in Rock...
& the Stones' Sticky Fingers album cover was pointless in its CD version

I lent a Mahler CD set which had been signed by the great Klaus Tennstedt.
In the end I had to ask for it back which was embarassing and needless to say
there were various scuffs and creases in the booklet making the item
        less cherishable as a result.

I would never lend a vinyl disc to anyone, whatever the pressure. CDs are a different matter, if it was to someone I could trust. "Sharing" (i.e. making a pirate copy for a friend) is illegal and wrong.

            Bonkers.
Can't think that Virgin made much money on this little venture.

Good tune, from a truly great band, though.
Great link - I think Simon should read it before he makes another post extolling the crime-free English village where everyone knows their place - sorry, I should say, gets along with everyone else.

(which of course in Simon's case is the one with the "head in a bag" incident !)

And speaking Welsh helps in these Welsh heartlands .
The shop in Bangor is struggling, however.

Should we not be wary about owning up to copying and sharing, you never know who's looking at this board.

Yes that is true but it happens all the time? A lot of people do it. Although I have not, as yet!

As Alpie says, copying a CD is illegal, and I have never done it, either. Several times.

but lend it and it NEVER comes back in my experience.
Stick to downloads and you can share and be generous, without losing another CD.

I think R3 Forum members copying the odd CD is pretty low down the list of worries for the industry.

not always against the artists interests, either, as the copy i give you might spark you to buy more.

you can argue these things any way you like. The sophistry used by the free downloaders is amazing.
