PS point of detail - in the text, shb: "'Romeo & Juliet' by Sergei Rachmaninov" ??...
"...the isle is full of noises,
Sounds and sweet airs, that give delight and hurt not.
    Sometimes a thousand twangling instruments
Will hum about mine ears, and sometime voices..."

Caliban, you're a star! It's just between the two of us right?! If that's not a senior moment I don't know what is. [discretely sidles away to make a swift repair!]

If I may quote from Blackadder:

Melchett: So it's maximum security, is that clear?

Blackadder: Quite so sir, only myself and the rest of the English-speaking world is to know.

Marvellous, Stephen, thank you - and what a brilliant idea.

Had lunch with a Bristol-based forumite today and we got to talking about some of the 'absent friends' of the forum, especially salymap and gamba. I remember gamba asking me to post one of his photos which, as photobucket no longer functions, has now become 'defaced. So, here's the thread for the third time (2nd reincarnation), and a new version of gamba's photo and imagined story; and also on the thread stillhomewardbound's video version.

It isn't given us to know those rare moments when people are wide open and the lightest touch can wither or heal. A moment too late and we can never reach them any more in this world.
