That's right, but it also refers to Flechte (lichen) - an organism which consists of two symbiotic entities, which is what the two instruments (mostly) are intended to be in this piece.

It'll be interesting to see if Amazon get the CD to BeefO before the very nice staff at CeReNeM actually get round to putting somebody on the desk so that I can actually buy the discs they have on sale!

      (What's "the M25" - a CD number?)

A handsome 3DVD set of Abel Gance's masterpiece, Napoleon, (1927) was delivered this morning. The set also includes a 58 page BFI booklet with features and illustrations on the film; the special features include editor Kevin Brownlow's, The Charm of Dynamite, 1968; BBC documentary on Gance's silent films, narrrated by Lindsay Anderson; Composing Napoleon, a 45mins interview with Carl Davis and full film, music and restoration credits. I couldn't resist an immediate shufti, irresistible and exquisite - must set aside time for an uninterrupted five and a half hours screening of Napoleon.

Ordered this Japanese pressing from Japan, for no reason other than it was the cheapest option at ÂŁ6.80, all-in.

... all 39 volumes of the magisterial Cook & Wedderburn edition of Ruskin, from a Scunthorpe dealer who will be delivering them to me at the South Mimms service station. A snip at ÂŁ250.

Pity there aren't 40 - then someone might pay ÂŁ251 to put new legs on his/her favourite bed.

But 39? Who wants a wobbly bed? You've been had mate ...

... 39 is divisible by three. We all know a three-legged table is much less wobbly than a four-legged one.

I have been hovering over Louis Vierne discs for quite a while but they were too expensive.

As luck would have it, I found his "Piano Quintet in C Minor" with Reynaldo Hahn's "Piano Quintet in F Sharp Major" on Hyperion in the local cats charity shop today for 49p. I also bought Hamilton Harty's "Piano Concerto in B Minor" with "In Ireland - Fantasy for Flute, Harp and Orchestra" and "With the Wild Geese" on Chandos for 49p. This is "a result"!!!!

The Vierne & Hahn disc on Hyperion is some super disc. Well done!

Excellent news - thanks very much.

(I wish I had now waited for Cras and Tailleferre as those were expensive)
