Many happy belated birthday greeting from me as well pet! Mine on Tuesday I have received lots of packages from the river people these past few days, Of which one, could be The Arban Method,. This is a well used book by musicians who play brass instruments. A very useful tool to have. It's so good, never been out of print since 1859! Never ben out of print. By Jean-Baptitste Arban

Managed to amass a total of £120 in Amazon gift cards for my 61st. It's wonderful having a birthday at this time of year, especially as it usually coincides with some good CD (re-)issues. Thanks to all for the good wishes.

As mentioned above, £75 has already gone on Karl Böhm the Late Recordings and the Bernstein Sibelius cycle both available tomorrow and already dispatched.

Might get one or two of the Karajan Re-mastered edition boxes I haven't got with the rest while I think I'll also get the last two volumes of The English Anthem with St Paul's Cathedral Choir on Hyperion that I haven't got. Taken with the Art of Giuseppe Sinopoli box as well. Decisions, decisions!

Ah yes, didn't see your earlier post.

A good list, I would especially like the Bohm. My Bernstein Royal edition Sibelius symphonies still sounds great to my ears, so I shan't indulge.

                  Good luck with your decisions!!

How much of this kind of stuff did he write?

Schoenberg - Verklaerte Nacht - Berlin Philharmonic - Karajan
Schoenberg - Pelleas und Melisande - ditto

In fact the CD just arrived.

Had an old cassette of the Karajan London farewell concert which started with Verklaerte Nacht - but the tape ran out a minute or so before the end. I've finally got round to replacing it with a CD. Don't know the Pelleas but will get into it in the next few days.
