Be interested to know how your train journey goes Gurney. Have you been by train previously ?

I've considered it,but flight seems to win out generally, although the large number of flights to Berlin probably sways it in favour of flying.

We go fairly often. With young kids we used to drive but now flying is cheap and quick, if not necessarily pleasanter (Stansted and Ryanair is not an enticing combination). For less distant destinations we have taken to preferring train. Convenient car parking at Ebbesfleet for Eurostar then change at Brussels.

The listing specifies that Mahler Symphony 1 is to be found on 1970's CD 22. (I was quite excited when I saw this because I have never seen Mahler Symphony 1 done by Karajan). Sadly, no such recording is to be found in this box. CD 22 contains Mendelssohn Symphony 1. When I checked listings for Mendelssohn, I found additional errors. In a box of this size errors in cross-reference listings are very inconvenient, and indicate a lack of attention to detail."

There may well be other such errors. Strange that two Jewish Christian converts (under duress) with the same initial letter in their family names should be thus confounded.

On a slightly different tack, I have ordered a birchwood lazy Susan to place the big box on.
I had wondered about something like a Lazy Susan for this. There is quite a choice available at sensible prices, so would be interested to hear how you get on with it. Or have you use one previously ?

This will be my first. I originally considered an old turntable set-up I inherited which was aimed at aiding the elderly and frail swivel into a car seat, but could not find it in the garage. I was very dilapidated anyway.

I ordered a plinth from Amazon and second hand circus carousel mechanism from eBay, then I remembered I bought this set as a download.

Should have ordered a virtual one - I got one with a clever hook - brilliant for keeping my air guitar tidy!

... no, it did not. Apparently the box was returned damaged to the supplier from royal mail. The supplier said that new copies wd be arriving "in one or two weeks". I somehow doubt it...

Anyhoo, full refund, so am feeling expansively flush with funds which I can now use to get lots of the Mozart symphonies coming up in a BAL round the corner....

Oh rotten luck. I very much doubt, due to the excellent packaging regime, that the boxed set itself would have suffered much, if any, damage. There is an air space of 40mm all round the box itself which is held in place within the strong corrugated card outer box by high density plastic foam spacers. It would take quite a lot to do more than damage the outer packaging box.

Repackaged it was probably the one that was briefly available again that was snapped up by another board reader!

Does anyone here know whether the Solti Wagner Operas box, issued in 2012, has the remastered version of The Ring, carried out that same year? I have the CDs in their first released version which I managed to pick up, sans booklets, in an Oxfam shop a few years ago. Noting that Flubit are offering the 36 disc box for £61.28 including p&p (libretti on CDROM), I took a chance on The Ring being that 2012 remastering but would be grateful to have my mind put at rest, on way or the other.
