A handsome box set, Maria Callas 'Live', remastered recordings, 1949-1964;
42CD set + 3 Maria Callas in Concert; Paris 1958, Hamburg 1959 & 1962 &
London 1962 & 1964, Blu-Ray discs. Tested La Traviata for sound quality and listened with growing pleasure. My only caveat is that the 200+page booklet, lavishly
illustrated but with miniscule print. However, I do have the 1988 hardback edition of
John Ardoin's, Callas at Juilliard, The Master Classes, as an alternative guide. Now look forward
to many listening sessions in the months to come, usually with that little something extra -
the tingle factor!

Looking forward to getting the Bacewicz String quartets as a 'hand me down' from a friend who received them as his 'free gift' for taking out a Gramophone subscription; he's pleased to have been able to have heard them, but doesn't think he wants to keep them in his collection, so they might be heading my way instead of to the charity shop.

The new Dvorak cd from the Paavel Haas Quartet on Supraphone. I think they're an outstanding group and I much enjoyed what I heard on Record Review last week when Andrew played a snippet.
Also, the new Schubert Trout Quintet from Anne-Sophie Mutter and her backing group. This is for Mrs P.G for Christmas since it's one of her favourite works as is Tchaikovsky's Romeo and Juliet played by the Czech Philharmonic Orchestra under Semyon Bychkov.
Hopefully, these will arrive soon.

Or Beefy's, when he can be bothered to listen to it.
I was waiting for that silly price Richter box, but it arrived this morning.
At least it was here when I got home from my hols.
Edit : I have no idea why my quote of Alison's post picked up Pulcers' post as well.
I will not be pushed, filed, stamped, indexed, briefed, debriefed or numbered. My life is my own.

Very much in "he couldn't do that again if he tried" territory !
As for the russian mafia, if they get in , they can have my overdraft with pleasure.I will not be pushed, filed, stamped, indexed, briefed, debriefed or numbered. My life is my own.
