What CD, book, DVD etc are you waiting for?

Don't know about you, but receipt of such items, certainly in any quantity, often gives a reading on the tensionometer of marital harmony in my household. (Amazon locker is very useful - but their prices are uncompetitive so often; there doesn't seem to be an alternative for non Amazon (or marketplace purchases that don't qualify for their locker).

This accounts for my enthusiasm for the Naxos Music Library (thread in Reference section). Except that when I really like the recording, I'll buy the CD - its quite possible a label can decide to withdraw from the streaming service.

Yes, I know what that’s like! I used to sneak my purchases into the house and re-arrange the CD shelves so the change in shape would mask the change in quantity!

Downloads are the answer, but I’m a creature of habit and I like hard-copy.

One of the incidental pleasures of being single is that I can buy as many CDs as I want with nobody to nag me about the tottering stacks piling up on the floor! The downside is that had I not been so lavish I might well have been able to have retired at 60.

I was sent a £20 Amazon gift voucher recently and have invested it in the new Nelson's DSCH 5, 8 & 9 with the Boston Symphony orchestra. Oh, and the Bruckner 3 that plays for almost 90 minutes!

The biggest box set I have ever bought: all of Bach's sacred cantatas directed by Masaaki Suzuki on 55 CDs, a wonderful compendium which I expect to give me unbounded pleasure for the rest of my life.
