... both on BBC1 ...hoorah no, as they say, interruptions and no $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$ to Murdoch
"...the isle is full of noises,
Sounds and sweet airs, that give delight and hurt not.
Sometimes a thousand twangling instruments
Will hum about mine ears, and sometime voices..."
[a sound slow ground-out last-minute win to the Scots would make my afternoon complete There is no finer sight than England's Six Nations campaign getting off to a really bad start after the blanket coverage they get in all the London-based sports pages ]
Not forgetting, tomorrow, Ireland v Wales (3pm KO) and I've just seen the Referee for that match is to be Wayne 'should have gone to Specsavers' Barnes! Really looking forward to the Scotland/England clash and echo Ammy's sentiments above.

Well spotted, Anna
The Ireland v Wales game will be President Michael D Higgins' first sporting outing since his election, I think so it'll be a change to see him greeting the players. Much as I wish his Presidency well, I'm hoping that his 'coping in defeat' muscles will be exercised by the end, tho' Wales look seriously depleted by injury & retirement ( but since when did that stop them ).
Will have to be content with the chorizo in Tesco's Finest paella... At least it keeps me neutral...
EDIT: oh! there's some Pea and Ham soup too!

As do I! I intend to give Scotland the best possible chance by not watching. They never seem to win when I do.
It should be an interesting weekend. Italy and England both have new coaches, O'Driscoll and Bergamasco are both unable to play (amongst others injured), England have chucked out the old guard (Tindall, Wilkinson etc) and which French team will turn up - the one which laboured against Tonga, Canada and Japan in the World Cup or their brilliant one (which the pundits are saying in today's papers are odds on to win the Tournament?) Always entertaining to watch the French team Edit: Isn't the Italian National Anthem fun?

The Italian anthem is a great anthem, I agree Anna. Once heard it's a real ear-worm - as our long-departed American friend might say
Scotland won't get many scoring opportunities easier than they had today I'm afraid and England didn't look very impressive as a team either but then it's early days.
In all honesty, I think all England supporters have been quite spoiled over the recent years - to the extent that they could perhaps be forgiven for reasonably expecting to win the championship, even Grand Slam each time, but on today's match, we are simply back to the old days when there was no sitting back comfortably at all; eek!
In fact bar that charge down, Scotland should have won it, I feel.
Talking of National Anthems, I wish the Scots would decide whether or not to flatten the 'leading note' on "to think again"; I gather it's a pipe thing, but why 'westernise' the tune - they are picts and celts afterall! And yes, the Italians' "de, de dum; de, de dum; de,de, dum, dum, dum dum dum..." bit is my favourite !!
