CELEBRITY - AAARGH!!! It all makes me think of the spaceship full of hairdressers from the Hitchhikers' Guide to the Galaxy.

Wasn't she on breakfast TV once? Should have stayed there with the hardboiled eggs and cold coffee.
I think a lot of it is a defense mechanism, but I agree she does overdo the patter.

Well, I have no idea of your current state of (relative) penury or of your "coping mechanisms." If I did, I might be in a position to mock.

Here's a preview of this week's episode, with the actor Stephen Mangan. Looks good!

Who is Sue Perkins? Is she the one who played the one in 'Hi Di Hi' with the round specs who wanted to be a red coat?

Well, I knew it was Sue somebody.

              So, who is Sue Perkins?

Actually, I'm not sure that I'm really bothered.

Originally stand up comedian, now panellist on various radio quiz/comedy shows, had tv series called SuperSizers (about food through the ages), presented tv baking competition (forget the name of it), generally pops up everywhere now after appearing in Maestro where she was taught to conduct and won it. Quite famous for doing not a lot but seems quite nice and harmless.

a very fair summary of sue perkins recent career anna.

since the media loves to over expose certain employees - shall we prepare for a 'let's blame sue perkins' season? i mean blame her personally for the sheer tedium of continuous repetition (it was the same for david mitchell iirc). it seems a bit unfair in the circumstances.

did anyone catch sue perkins with maureen lipman, and victoria coren on r4 quite recently ....? maureen lipman definitely brings out the best in sue ...or at least, predictably, sue is much more talented and witty than she may appear lately. of course, lipman already knows about the perils of over exposure in the media, after her bt contract...... lipman was on tv herself, several times a day, saying the exact same thing, as that's the nature of tv adverts. i was completely unaware of what a hilarious person lipman herself genuinely is, until a couple of sundays ago. the bt strapline 'it's good to talk' vanquished lipman's tiresome line about 'ologies' iirc ... i just hope similar doesn't happen to sue perkins, (although she probably could do with the wonga, and david mitchell seems to have survived his period of acute over exposure despite all)!

And yet you went to the trouble of posting the above.

Funny way of showing you're not bothered...or is it just another way of registering your disdain for anything produced by Sky?

Mind you, they seem to be doing perfectly well without you....

Perhaps some come-uppance has now been had here; an email I just received from The Gramophone yesterday leads with

Paul Lewis and Alison Balsom on the Gramophone Player

There's a photograph of Paul Lewis - and none of Alison Balsom!

I'm still trying to get ovewr the shock. I'd thought that photos of Alison Balsom were pretty much compulsory.

No, she was my delectable compatriot Kirsty Young's predecessor as Desert Island Discs presenter.

                        Not.

Are you suggesting that Alison Balsom is a minor celebrity, and not a real talent? If you are, then might I politely suggest that you listen to Miss Balsom's playing and think again.

As for the above, I have no idea what you're on about. I can only imagine you're still suffering from the aforementioned shock.

Neither of those two things - far from it, indeed - and I don't need to listen to her again simply to be aware of how well she plays. You've missed the point entirely, I'm afraid.

Think about it - before I "sue" you (that's only meant to be a clue, by the way, in case you really need one).

Something Mr Pee exells at, along with not understanding any sort of humour, unless it's clearly signaled with a couple of dozen wierd emoticons.
