We get repeated calls, usually at around 6 to 7pm, usually about PPI (payment protection insurance). There was some mis-selling of this by banks and these callers are trying to get you to sue.
We have incoming call number display and tend to ignore anything beginning 0845 or similar. Sometimes an automated message gets left on the answer phone (or at least part of a message because the machine does not wait for the "tone").
If you get the number and put it into Google it will bring up several sites that may tell you what it is.
