    Composer comparatives

Now here's one to brighten the day apparently known as "Blue Monday" and classified as such as it is supposedly the most depressing day of the year.

I'm pretty sure that it was the accompanist Graham Johnson who started this one many years ago when complaining about how composer comparatives all too often involve corruptions in pronunciation of the names of the composers involved, most notable examples being "Beethoveenian", "Wagneerian" and "Mahleerian". In the spririt of trying to avoid substantial repronuncitions of such names when associating something with the work of a particular composer, Graham Johnson's opening salvo was "Coplandish". You get the idea?

OK, while I think of the most appropriate one for Rubbra, may I throw it open to the forum to post others?

Oh, come now - you can do better than those! We need to invoke a secondary connotation where possible. What about "British"? "Irish?" "Matthewsiastic"? Messiaenic", for example?

...and, as a clue for another, don't let's forget a certain Symphony No. 3 in C minor, Op. 88...
