Anyway, changing the subject (or rather turning it on its head), here's one for you all (that's been aired previously, I know, but not to worry). Tippett - Symphony No. 3: nice title - shame about the piece (or most of it, anyway)....

BTW, in what sense, do you mean "am (I) any good (sic)? In the christian sense? In a moral sense? In the sense of being adept at any particular activity?
You really need to make yourself clearer, ahinton!

Well, if ahinton can turn the subject on its head, so can I. I give you a piece that has a wonderful title and is a joy to listen to:
The Big Turtle Fanfare from the South China Sea
The title is nearly as long as the piece which lasts 37 seconds. Accessible? Not half!

To turn the subject truly on its head, would you not need to nominate a piece with an attractive title that is in fact unlistenable to or at least incapable of generating joy in the listener?

How about a post which is actually relevant to this thread's title?
I'm not sure I'd call the folliwng pieces necessarily "nice" but the titles are, as is the tendency with Mr. Adams , shamelessly bl**dy attention seeking... but in many cases they've done the job of fast-tracking the work into the repertoire and hauling in audiences.
My Father Knew Charles Ives
I Was Looking at the Ceiling and Then I Saw the Sky
Short Ride in a Fast Machine
Hallelujah Junction
Hoodoo Zephyr
The Gospel According to the Other Mary
Naive and Sentimental Music
Lollapalooza
Faced with the choice of attending a concert of Symphoy No.3 or Lollapalooza, what do you think most (especially younger) people would choose to attend?

Presuming you to mean the Symphony No. 3 by the otherwise often excellent Michael Tippett, the answer to your question is that I have no idea and not much concern either.
