Despite the best efforts of Mrs R to keep me awake with her snoring

M is ready, so if you don't mind I'll crack on rather than wait for Anton to wave the flag.

What M is a cantata by an Irishman, an orchestral work by a Hungarian and an opera by a Russian?

I understood the clues once I'd been told the answer..no change there, then.

Morning all. Nice day for it!

Good morning all, at 11.09. It feels like the middle of the night. Pleased to see that someone cracked the L as all these pop references usually eave me in the wilderness. Sorry about the sleeplessness, Anna, but the darker hours are the quieter and provide time for thought, sometimes.

Oh, the sun is shining, Must get moving. No time for M, I think.

                  Except that

Tchaikovsky, Liszt and Balfe seem to have one word in common.

I just knew you were going to say that, in fact I nearly suggested it myself although I suspect I am more disposed to Tchaikovsky than you...

                          Mazeppa?
                          EDIT:
Tchaikowsky opera, Balfe cantata, Liszt tone poem.
Being of the 'old school' and thus unwilling to presume and jump the gun, I shall check on return from a trip to library before venturing an 'N' should my answer be correct.

                            Er... yes.

As Angle didn't seem keen to finish it off, and as you seem keen to set N, I expect no one will mind...

Er...thanks. Assuming that nobody minds (a short pause), then I'll post an N in the next 5 minutes.

Sorry for the delay - I've just installed IE9 and couldn't find my Favourites at first!
What N links a famous son of Norfolk, a prize-winning pianist born surrounded by Good Hope and a singer who played the part of a North American law enforcement officer?
