Reason: illumination
I'd never heard of Deloffre, I must say, and had no idea that Paul Creston was born Giuseppe Guttoveggio (can the latter be true?)
I remember Burgess Meredith had a recurring role opposite Garner in a detective show I watched when a kid (can't recall the name just now) but that was a decade later...

Sometimes a thousand twangling instruments
Will hum about mine ears, and sometime voices..."

Are you thinking of The Rockford Files? I've been looking at Maverick - no joy so far musically.
Are some parts of this concerned with librettos rather than full on composing?

Efrem Kurtz & John Pritchard shared the music directorship of RLPO for two years; Pritchard was allowed only one Last Night of the Proms because he was clearly dying of cancer. Good arrers, cloughie
