        Quite....

... but did you miss mercia's most recent and characteristically germane post?

Sounds and sweet airs, that give delight and hurt not.

          Yes, I did!

Not sure how it works, but it does stop me from looking through the scores in search of Enharmonics any more!

          EDIT: <doh> Lux facta est!

Apologies: have to be out for a couple of hours (Honest!) - and I wouldn't've got close without merc's "nudge"!

We badly need a professional goal-poacher (like me) to sidle up and get this (since I infer that mercs has the answer but is understandably disinclined to set another question having done many of late...)

Oh well done... Actually, I think the Mahler also has an Italian tempo indication - Allegro energico, ma non troppo.

I'd certainly got it in mind that the E is 'energico'

                    And the F is ...

                    ... yours

and you gave us an energy hint in #32504
                      anyway ........

                      which F has given us

the Fall of Icarus, a skeletal A to Z, and 'suddenness'

And I had totally overlooked that fact that Mahler 1 also has an energetic tempo marking in its 4th movement <doh>

                                Very well, then:

La Chute d'Icare for clarinet & ensemble (1988)
                                Bone Alphabet for percussionist(1991)
Plotzlichkeit (= "suddenliness"?!) for orchestra (2006)

... but what has Andrew Lloyd-Banker got to do with F?
