Yes, he did; but his Sonata VII in e minor is La Magnifique!

Nonetheless, and the D to you.

Flay, old sport, make the D one hundred shades of dead easy, could you?

I promise you this is not too difficult. It's about the music itself.

Yes my first thought was IKEA

Is the Norwegian bit something to do with a title to one of Grieg's pieces?

Yes, it's about the beginnings for these two, but not the key.

Not Grieg. It might have been Ikea, but unlikely. It's good though...

Guessing the Scandinavian bit is something to do with a Beatles track from Rubber Soul

Could the 'Norwegian furnishings' be a suite??
I keep hitting the Escape key, but I'm still here!

wikipedia says that the first 136 bars of Rheingold, basically a chord of E flat major, is a well-known DRONE

                            Drone basses/ pedal points?

EDIT - sorry mercia, you were there before me but I didn't use Wiki I think this fits mahler 1 and Rheingold but I'm still struggling for the Norwegian.

I have to say I don't really think of drones and pedal-points as the same thing

to me a drone is that note a bagpipe plays continuously whatever key we're in
