Andrew Davis conducted the Toronto Symphony for a while. Sorry if this is a red-herring, haven't been able to follow AA today due to work, but it seems as if it might be relevant...

Sounds and sweet airs, that give delight and hurt not.
Sometimes a thousand twangling instruments
Will hum about mine ears, and sometime voices..."

Sir Andrew it is.
I have to go out now - looks like a combined effort - P off as you wish!
We're all arriving here after work like poachers, wanting to grab the easy pickings after others have done the hard work. C'est la vie
True enough, Mr F... Although I like to think of it as being helpful rather than poaching

Alanis Morissette was born in Ottawa which is in Ontario
Angela Mary Hewitt was born on July 26, 1958 in Ottawa, Ontario - her father was the Cathedral organist in Ottawa
If Calibs is correct then we have Sir Andrew Davis, the Toronto Symphony Orchestra's Conductor Laureate - that's Ontario

Do you want it in black and white? The mallet was used to silence a singer....
Twas indeed Ontario - but now you hopped over Lake Michigan I haven't a clue - the only link I have between a P and a nightingale is Gene Puerling who made a great vocal arrangement of that particular bird that performed vocally in Berkeley Square. He had previously worked with the Hi-Los and Singers Unlimited but I digress. But then I'm probably very wide of the mark.
