As it's gone quiet, and rubbers is on the Motorway (safe journey, by the way) try this:

Blue beginnings led to firsts of lasts by Tchaikovsky and Mahler. WhO?

Had never heard of two of those three works...

First thought on the puzzle is the gliss. at the start of Rhapsody in Blue... and whether there are any gliss.es marked in the first movements of Tchaik 6 or Mahler 10... But even then, who is the O...? (Just thinking aloud, Anna-style ) Got to be out for a while now, shall cogitate....

The emboldened work is one to include in your cogitations; forget Gershwin's Blues!

Any offers in the next ten minutes before I go to see some woman or man dying in The Bridge?

I have missed your time limit; however I have invented a pretext to use someone's ipad (very very cool, latest version... still not tempted ) to get online en soirée to say I think it's Ormandy - first recordings/performances of performing versions of Mahler 10 and Tchaikovsky 7, and I just googled to find that Eugene Ormandy began life in Hungary as Jenő Blau - a factoid which I am delighted to upload on to the Caliban hard drive for the first time. What an odd name to change to... I'd always assumed his name was an anglicisation of something Hungarian similar to Eugene Ormandy - not something totally different!!

Je me coucherai moins bête - as so often after a brisk AA session

EDIT: I just realised that Jenő is probably a variant of Eugene... Yevgeny... etc (the Yevgeny I know is called 'diminutively' Jenia...). I like it when links like that become apparent....

Oh, had anyone told me I would rather watch a dysfunctional detective on a Saturday night rather than ....... the alternatives!! I am not sure, like Caliban, Je me coucherai moins bête, because I am not sure I understand what's happening (but I did say, in the beginning, it was August!)

I shall see.... Got it recorded. Might crack on in now, back home and feeling like a late night

How was The Bridge for you, ferney?

Here's a P for Sunday, a couple of minutes old as it is.

It's war-time, listen to mine...; and to something similar from Ms Ciccone.

Beware children when Caliban uses the 'similar' word anything could happen in the next half-hour!

How many clues are there is that poser, Calibs?

                    The regulation three, Mr A

                    Similar means what it says!

So we're not looking for anything 'similar' in Sanskrit or Tagalog or Ancient Sumerian?

What do you think I am, twisted?!

Try finding a straightforward synonym for 'similar'
