Logging off shortly. As an extra hint, may I point out the capital letters in the puzzle and my comment in #166679.

I'm stumped by "Nasher". Is that the same as a "Gnasher"?

No; someone who is associated with Nashe.

And Constant Lambert's son Kit Lambert managed The Who but how does Thomas Nashe fit in?
Edit: forget that last part, I've just answered my own question

                        Overlap!
Thomas Nashe wrote the poems set by Lambert in his Summer's Last Will and Testament.

Anna mentioned in dispatches, but the O goes to mercs.

                          Hmmmmmm!

Not yet 8 o'clock: brain can only focus on one letter and I'd been talking about Nashe!

While there is a lull as mercia thinks of a new puzzle, can I endorse Caliban's plea that a full and frank disclosure be posted of the original question and the answer? It's so difficult trawling back and picking pieces of the answer out of many posts if one has to be away from the board for any length of time (it also makes it easier for the casual observer as well)

wouldn't Anna like to set a question ?
                              probably not

                              M straightforwardly connecting

part of a Russian 14th, part of a Rapsodie and part of Espana
