      A V to connect:

A Piper's solution to wobbly furniture
      A sacred song
A titanic drama for the ears

Has the sacred song any connection with Rachmaninov and pieces he wrote involving rather deep bass voices?

'Twas cunning! How on earth were you on to that within the hour?!

I also agree about the Ravel

Have you been unwell, fhg? Glad you're better anyway!
"...the isle is full of noises,
Sounds and sweet airs, that give delight and hurt not.
          Sometimes a thousand twangling instruments
Will hum about mine ears, and sometime voices..."

No - but the composer concerned was a compatriot of Sergei's.

Three hours on; I think we need a "prompt".

The three elements are three works by different composers, none of which feature the letter V but all of which are connected by the V required.

... oh, and besides being a compatriot of Rachmaninov, the relevant sacred song composer was also a contemporary of his.

Are you saying none of the composers or the works feature the V?

                    Exactly so.

(although a V is involved in the spelling of one of the composers' names)

is the titanic drama anything to do with ships? or Titan? is the wobbly furniture anything to do with Shakers? does Piper have a capital P because it is someone's name?

                        No.

                        or Titan?
                        Yes; one of them.

is the wobby furniture anything to do with Shakers?
No. (Great idea, though - worth keeping in mind for the future!)

                        Yes: a librettist's surname.

Not according to the composer who called the work in question "a drama for listening".
