Well, indeed where the fhg is he? I am retiring to bed, not with George Elliot but Dickens' Night Walks, purchased after Inanucci's programme on tv, which so caught my imagination I had to read it.

I think fhg said he would submit his W when he gets home at 5pm
meantime he wanted us to pass the time with another letter

I'm going to inflict another U on you

                what U connects

a mountain range in north-east New York state, a lump of marble and al-Eizariya

the answer is one particular musical work

Neither excrescence on the British way of life has detained me today, I pleased to say!

This lump of marble, mercia - is it a statue, or a sculpture or a grave stone?

                            A puzzle and no mistake

no, it is used as a percussion instrument in the U musical work in question

(in the source of my question it isn't described exactly as a "lump" but it amounts to the same thing)

This mountain range, mercia - would it be the Adirondack Mountains, the Taconic Mountains, the Appalachian mountains or the Alleghany Plateau?
