        The first of Britten's Six Metamorphoses after Ovid is Pan who played upon Syrinx, his lover turned into a reed;
        Debussy's Syrinx was designed to be played offstage;
        And there's.... er, an asteroid of the same name.

          Correct! There is indeed such an asteroid: - "an Apollo and Mars crosser asteroid." Crosser than Anna when I offended her feminism?

          (Asteroids are always handy when you cannot think of another clue as there are so many!)
