In so-called popular music, as practised by beat combos such as Japan's Pizzicato Five, perhaps?

I am looking for another piece of music (originally paired with a legato).

I'm afraid a 'Q' could take much longer to devise than an 'R' on which I've been working and which I can complete tomorrow morning (if that's OK).

Which 'R' forms the subject of compositions that reportedly resulted from: an incident in the Mendips; a couplet and a short story written by different people but in the same language; and a belated request from a soprano?

                        Hmmm...no takers yet...
Would it help if I said that the work requested by a soprano is sometimes performed with the soprano replaced by a clarinet?

                          Is this a rocking question?

It is. I have to correct my previous message: the work requested by a soprano features a soprano AND a clarinet.

That would have been a giveaway I was struggling with the substitution - vocalise and r don't fit!
