One of the joys (after the event!) of these puzzles are the lovely teas shops in the blind alleys with their beautifully laid-out garden paths! Many of my puzzles are the direct result of finding fascinating - but "wrong" - information during "research"! (And I often wish the answers to my puzzles were as elegant as the "wrong" answers offered by others. No doubt, they do, too!)

I'm out now 'til about three pm, when I hope to have an E, by gum!

There's a Haydn symphony (no. 38) with that name. Echoes feature in orchestral suites by Telemann and Purcell, and Stokowski composed a piece based on, or did an arrangement of, the latter's echo. Still thinking about the Mahler!
