not too sure what this means, there are people apparently called von Blank, would you recommend us investigating any of them?

no... The clue is probably no help, just adds obscurity - which is the reverse of what is needed here. But some language translations might help...

Well I've been all round the houses with Violet and so far the only F is Folkington, which doesn't lead anywhere but my Mother lived not far from there. So are we looking for a musical answer rather than a name?

While we are cogitating did anyone see the conclusion of Edward Drood last night? I thought it was terrific, very Gothic and Matthew Rhys was brilliant and quite frightening in his madness.

the F answer is not musical, but is something common to the three sub-answers.

As my von Trapp clue seems just to have obscured things - why not just think of what he sang?

Saving both up for the weekend! Good to know that you as well as various reviewers think highly of it!

I am getting nowhere with the F though...

Lordy this can only mean one thing: - vints spent part of Crimbo watching the fillum, the poor devil

How in the name of Christopher Plummer am I supposed to remember the title of a song from a fillum that I haven't seen for 40+ years?

Edelweiss? How Do You Solve A Problem Like Maria? I Am Sixteen Going On Seventeen? Tomorrow Belongs to Me (or was that Cabaret?) - zounds!

ah, I see, a horticultural question with Puccini's quartet, Mrs V and Georg Ludwig's song

thanks for all the clues, I was too lazy to work it out

we have established "Violet Gordon Woodhouse"
I have agreed that we are not interested in "Gordon" or "Woodhouse" ...

What F are we talking about?

What other F is in the titles in ammy's #12088?

And I claim the prize for Never, Ever, Ever, Having Seen The Sound of Music!! It seems the Priest who set them on their real-life singing career was called Franz. That's the only other repeatable F-word I've come up with so far in this puzzle!
