We need Panjandrum to restore order.

I love it when this thread goes wierd!

And the duck-sofa pic is genius

Much more fun than trying to solve infernal cryptic questions!
"...the isle is full of noises,
Sounds and sweet airs, that give delight and hurt not.
            Sometimes a thousand twangling instruments
Will hum about mine ears, and sometime voices..."

What T connects Henrik Ibsen, a tone poem by Sibelius, and someone who should perhaps send Panjandrum a PM?

                  Tumbleweed?

                  No, that can't be right.

                  I shall ask nicely...

My apologies to all. I have to confess that I had not read up on the rules of the game sufficiently to realise the next step!

Therefore, to take you all off tenterhooks, which T links an early Christian philosopher; a lake in central Africa and an Elizabethan formal style of garden design?

Same here, I PMed Panj half an hour ago to get verification (no answer yet), but I'm about to go on a trip again and can't get involved just now.

Revisiting my original clue, I realise that the geography was slightly misleading: it should, of course, be a lake in western africa.
