      What kept you?
(You clearly weren't led astray by Cambridge).
An 'S' at your convenience, s'il vous plaƮt.
I'm giving Wolfgang, rather than his father, the credit for one of the sleigh rides.

And to you, too, Norf. I presume nobody will mind if I leave it 'til the morning? (I can't guarantee that I won't be a little too Szymanowskied in the coming hours!)

        All Very Best Wishes!

It gives me great pleasure to introduce Alphabet Associations to the New Year.

An S, at your leisures and pleasures to link:

          Paganini and Firebird
          Lohengrin
          Lutyens' bell ringer

            All Very Best Wishes!
            I personally got rather Graingered.

Cunning R question, nice answer and an S which has sent me to the espresso machine!

            Plus Ƨa change....!
"...the isle is full of noises,
Sounds and sweet airs, that give delight and hurt not.
            Sometimes a thousand twangling instruments
Will hum about mine ears, and sometime voices..."

                The Doctor would not approve!
To avoid extermination, think of "bell ringers" (or one at least) and google accordingly!

I notice that Elisabeth Lutyens wrote something to a text by Salvatore Quasimodo, but goodness knows if that's relevant

"Goodness" had nothing to do with it!

That was a link that I was missing.

The S that I have found is Stradivarius.

                              Stradivari is involved.

"Paganini" and "Firebird" are both names of violins by Stradivarius
Lohengrin by Salvatore Sciarrino is recorded on the Stradivarius label
Anthony Quinn played both Quasimodo and Antonius Stradivarius in different films

(for the third link I originally had the fact that C B Lutyens once owned a Stradivarius cello ("Cristiani"), but I could not link that to a bell ringer.)
