        PHENOMENAL, Don!

        Wrong, but PHENOMENAL!!

Well - it sounds like a set of parallel answers.... but not in the least musical, and not what I have on the card!

What links a school, the Saturn V for example, and Dardanus?
              Mannheim?
              ... school
              ... rocket
... the other opera called Dardanus

EDIT: by Stamitz of said parish!

                Monster?

Dardanus attacks a monster ravaging Teucer's kingdom, saving the life of Anténor who is attempting, unsuccessfully, to kill it. Teucer and Dardanus make peace, the latter marrying Iphise.

A whale is referred to as a "monster" in the bible (Lamentations 4:3 Even the sea monsters draw out the breast, they give suck to their young ones: the daughter of my people is become cruel, like the ostriches in the wilderness.)

And a Saturn 5 is a monster of a rocket!

You should see what my spell-check keeps suggesting for "Dardanus"!

Well done, ferney - you got yourself 'n N !

Which bit did you get first? The Mannheim "Rocket" reference?

For completeness, the 'Dardanus' is the opera by Carl Stamitz, one of the Mannheim school.

"...the isle is full of noises,

It works even better in French. I once went to see Rameau's (cond: Minkowski) in Rennes.... We were giggling far too much. "D'art... d'anus..."

                        Next !!
