Bravo ferne.... the third is Letzte Hoffnung by Schubert http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MHFGuCvVHkI
"...the isle is full of noises,
Sounds and sweet airs, that give delight and hurt not.
          Sometimes a thousand twangling instruments
Will hum about mine ears, and sometime voices..."

Yes. Well done. I made it too easy with the "swan songs." It took me longer to think of it than for you lot to crack it

So who's for the "M"...?? I vote Caliban.

Tell me about it! At least you had me on a false trail for a moment.

But ferney, you got it! I just filled in the single gap after you found the answer....

The reference to crocuses was a stab-in-the-dark sort of allusion to the fact that there's a Crocus concert hall in Moscow, the name of which begins with a 'K' in Cyril's alphabet.

                          Alright then

Very kind. I've wanted to set M for a few rounds, in fact.

What links a school, the Saturn V for example, and Dardanus?

One thinks of Marlborough for an M school (at least this one does).

Feel free, Don... but it has nothing whatever to do with the answer!
