The K was: What K links a black roller skater, two moods, and a leisurely American island?

The island was Key Largo. We have major and minor keys. So we need a pop song (hit in 1972) about a roller skater. The black is to do with the singer's name, not race (think pigments). The K is is nice and shiny.
