Am I right in thinking that Ammy is therefore declining the invitation to set a C? If so, Norfolk me old turkey, I think it must be you"...the isle is full of noises,
Sounds and sweet airs, that give delight and hurt not.
Sometimes a thousand twangling instruments
Will hum about mine ears, and sometime voices..."

Ries isn't a bad composer at all: I first heard his Music on one of Robert Simpson's Innocent Ear programmes. A Piano Concerto of Ries' was played that sounded all the world like an unknown Mozart example.Numquam Satis!

As someone once said, how strange the mind works. I was thinking of St. Cuthbert or St. Cecilia. Methodists, pay attention at the back!! I liked the Ries joke atlhough it was not immediately comprehenisble. But humour sometimes needs a massage to obtain the kernel. That's awesomely deep, I think.
I am now heading off across the Styx,
