    Quite right!

mercia, maybe you could restore that question you gallantly provided, involving Lempi...?
"...the isle is full of noises,
Sounds and sweet airs, that give delight and hurt not.
    Sometimes a thousand twangling instruments
Will hum about mine ears, and sometime voices..."

"Lempi's son"? Anything to do with Cupid?
"The Second Man on the Moon"? Anything to do with HG Wells?
"Bertram's Estate"? ... err ... anything to do with Agatha Christie?

        Intriguing, mercia!

sorry, none of those. you can take my clues far more literally/factually
e.g. who was (factually) the second man to set foot on the moon?
who was the son of Lempi?

sorry, I may have to log-off soon
my composer was born in 1959
                "Mansfield Park" is one work
a work about the second man to walk on the moon is another
and a work about the son of Lempi (Finnish mythology) is the third

                  So, "Buzz" Aldrin and Lemminkainen?
A composer born in 1959? None of the ones that spring to (my) mind -Richard Barrett, James MacMillan, Steve Martland, James Clarke - seem promising.

Could the D's first name be Jonathan?

I won't be around much tomorrow so I won't complete the answer, sorry/

                    Good playing, guys.

I'm impressed that someone should know the birth-years of composers without looking them up.

Anyway, as you say, Buzz Aldrin and Lemminkainen, the works being Man on the Moon and Swanhunter, (and the previously mentioned Mansfield Park) the composer being Jonathan Dove. Sorry if you haven't heard of him, or don't rate him highly. So D = Dove.

Who'd like to set an E question?

Not too impressed, mercia: Clarke was born in 1957 - which I'd've known if I had "looked him up"!

Again, I should've checked dates: I thought JD was born in 1965! Some of his newer Music interests me: he's adopting procedures from Lachenmann, Sciarrino and Ferneyhough (and abandoning Software-produced scores in favour of handwritten manuscripts. I bet Peters Edition is thrilled!).
Who'd like to set an E question?
I suggest Angle: he got to the answer.

Could well be Ams. Since Roman times beetroot considered a potent aphrodisiac, murals featuring beetroot have been found on the walls of Pompeii's brothels. Beetroot juice has the same effect it seems. I am a late convert, hated them but I love them now, so earthy and flavoursome. I cooked some little ones last night with lime and fresh chilli, perfect to have with goats cheese. From picking to eating, 5 hours! The bigger ones will be roasted with apples and pears to accompany medallions of pork.
