Well, I am stuck. The only 3 characters with an S in Star Trek are Spock, Scotty and Sulu, I think.

True - and the clue refers to none of them. Correct series, by the way. None of the clues is Musical (although there is a modern opera associated with the Star Trek answer), nor is the overall (not a clue!) answer.
