Never too obscure at this advanced stage of the thread. I'll be out for a couple of hours, during which I'll cogitate on a P.

Oh go before you go, Don - if you see what I mean

Hunting for a public lavatory that's open in London, I expect to hear the hushed tones of Whispering Dan Cruickshank just ahead of me with a film crew!

I have read through the recent sequence again having dipped in over the last day from time to time and tried to make any headway with this - admittedly with a holiday brain in, I confess I find messages 9240 to 9267 inclusive completely impenetrable. I have no idea how the answer comes from the question Amazing question anton, would love an insight into the logical sequence behind the answer (like ferne, whose question reassures me I am not groping alone!)

EDIT!!! *doh* I wrote most of that a while ago, then was distracted - I see things have moved on. I'll have another read... !

Well, I pointed ferney in the direction of Scotland but the comma went straight over my head - even though we had a brief discussion of the Oxford comma a few weeks ago - and I was unaware that the players had been to Oxford. So, basically, I had no chance of solving it!!

I had no idea that Haydn symphonies had titles like "Letter T"... Why have I never heard that before?!

Indeed you did, Anna, but I was so pleased with myself at finding another (and altogether more wronger) Rugby team with significant Smith, Wallace and two others that I didn't follow your finger! "So sharp you'll cut yourself" as my mother used to say to me. (That and "Go and see if that strange man over there has some puppies to show you.")

They're very popular amongst amateur orchestras in Yorkshire, Caliban. "We'll try t'first movement of t'Haydn symphony now if you please Mr Pickersgill!"

Is this to be the title of your memoirs, Caliban?

A bit of a quickie here, as I have had other chores today. I hope this will suffice to keep the treadmill turning:

What P might be indicated by a foreign flower, and is mainly remembered for a record breaking tintinnabulation, though another offering was perhaps more deserving of a big yawn?

I will keep an eye on things today as far as possible, but my evening will in great part be occupied with celebrations in Lewes.

How spiffing. Hope the rain doesn't douse your Martyrs' Crosses... Mind you, was supposed to be wet here in London, but as yet it's just grey but dry...

                            Have a fine evening!

I've been involved in one of those Lewes Bonfire fracas ....... but not for a long time, whose effigy will you be burning this year? Don't say it'll be Pet Rock!! Are there still calls to ban it?

Beautiful day here, now drawing to a close with wonderful sunset, streaked with amber and azure, trees standing proud on the hilltops, a frost is promised. Sorry, I have not as yet considered the puzzle!

I shall only be watching, not burning! I'll report on the effigy when I return.
