    Is the H musical, Dave?

What about the answers to the clues?

Can somebody please explain what's going on - it's becoming increasingly difficult to tell clues from replies!

well I think what I've understood so far is that the Reiner in the original question

What H has connections with Reiner, a Metropolitan first, and something silly?
is neither Fritz Reiner nor Karel Reiner nor Thomas Reiner nor Carl Reiner
but is a Reiner (maybe/maybe not) to do with films
which is why I suggested Rob Reiner

I should think we're running out of Reiners

Missed that one earlier. No, the silly thing is not the "What are you listening to now?" thread, but a "symphony"!

                      Re Haydn and Joke.

                      Like it, but no.

H lived into the 20th century. The "symphonies" were not by him, and were a 20th century phenomenon.

did our 19/20 century H composer compose an opera that had it's premiere at the Met? ("Metropolitan first")

is it a specific film directed by or acted in by Rob Rainer that we should be thinking of?
