    What A links:
    (1) A 1927 song recorded 40 years later by somebody who ended up in a famous Parisian cemetery;
    (2) A 1934 song inspired by a meteor shower 101 years earlier;
    (3) A song, written by a Canadian, included in a hit album released in 1972; and
    (4) A song supposedly written as a riposte to (3) by a rock band formed in Jacksonville?

            Jim Morrison, who recorded Weill's 1927 song with The Doors in 1967, lies (as far as we know) in Père Lachaise Cemetery.
            Stars Fell on Alabama, written in 1934, is said to have been inspired by a spectacular display by the Leonids meteor shower in 1833.
            Alabama was featured on Neil Young's album Harvest.
            Lynyrd Skynrd reportedly took objection to this and another Neil Young song and recorded Sweet Home Alabama in response.
            Over to you for B please!

                so many Loose Endses, so many Elektras
                I can make Bruce fit all three, though pretty obscurely
                I shall look at the Monty Python Bruce sketch on youtube while I think

                  not Bruce I'm afraid but it is a name of the surname variety. Clues think presentation with Loose Ends and premiere, of a sort, for Elektra!

                    ah, silly me
                    Ned Sherrin who used to present Radio 4's Loose Ends wrote a play about Thomas Beecham
                    Thomas Beecham conducted the UK premiere of Strauss's Elektra and conducted the RPO on the soundtrack of the film Tales of Hoffmann

                    I should have let salymap answer this

                      You are there again and yet again have a better answer for the Tales of H than I had - Wiki says it was his first recording in 1910! Yes it was set in honour of the Great Lady!

                                In which case, I'm barking up the wrong tree ... which is probably just as well, as I set 'U' and 'A' and it would be good for a few more people to chip in, don't you think?
