Maurice Abravanel was born in Salonika or Thessalonica, lived for a time in the same house as Ernest Ansermet in I guess Lausanne, and according to wiki made the first complete recording of Mahler 1 - 9.

Well done! It's your B now. Maybe we have to have a few easy ones now. Perhaps everyone else is watching tennis.

not sure what counts as easy anymore, anyway ..............

            what B connects

            - orthopaedics
            - singular & serious symphonies
            - a Birgit first

            ?

Franz Berwald was an orthopaedic surgeon who also wrote music, including a symphony entitled Singuliere.

              I'm working on the rest

hope you're not still working on this
since you have singuliere, by deduction you have serieuse
put Birgit and Estrella together and you've got the last part

                  and the C question

well done, I'm logging off now

An aria from Berwald's opera Estrella de Soria was Birgit Nilsson's first recording in 1947 - cheers for that, mercia

                      What C connects

                      Aladdin

                      Bob Dylan

                      Tom Waits

All three clues contain a musical element. The answer beginning with C is not musical

Totally lost! Bob Dylan and Tom Waits have had Chats together. There are places like Aladdin Theater where they have performed. That doesn't uncover a musical element for each clue though. Puzzled!

As in Carl Nielsen? He was musical!

                              yes quite
I've found some vague Carl/Waits and Carl/Dylan connections too but they're a bit tenuous
so I'm more than likely wrong

Carl Nielsen's Aladdin is right - something about it links with Bob & Tom.

The C is a place - go figure
