I think that's Alison - here - http://www.for3.org/forums/showthrea...trol-or-diesel. What I think she wants to know is whether it's worth buying premium grade fuel. I'd think it very unlikely. The extra cost of the fuel is likely to outweigh any putative benefits of fancy fuels for regular cars. I'm not saying that the additives don't do anything, but they're very unlikely to provide much benefit. Usual triumph of advertising over gentle folk I think.

I realise now I've been under the misapprehension that premium and ultimate were unleaded petrols, not diesel. How foolish of me. I thought diesel was just diesel of one kind.

You may be right, but I suspect that marketing has driven the creation of "new" fuels in order to extract a few extra pence per litre for both petrol and diesel cars. I'll need to pay attention next time I go to fill up.

so I reckon that's misconception 91 and W could be either Wellington or Waterloo
