I was thinking of Empio, dirò, tu sei for the second but yes, it’s Emperor. And we’ll wait for your F.

After some recent puzzles. doversoul, that was quite a nice one for such an hour.

          What F connects

a drunken hag, a lady distraught about the loss of her pet and an epitaph in a Norfolk churchyard ?

              Are these all musical, Angle?

Sorry to be so late, everyone but the night lasted long.

All the elements are musical in the sense that works are based on them. None of the elements begin with F, only the connection.

I could but shall not give clues to two more characters.

Here's a give-away : the composer is famous for having said, "I don't know if I like it but ....."

You need to trawl through the works of VW, yes.

Only briefly looking in, the Norfolk one could be Epitaph on John Jayberd of Diss?

Mercia, between you and Anna you have the works which are parts of Five Tudor Portraits by Vaughan Williams.

Well done, both of you but I think the G goes to Mercia.

Now I can retire again, for a while.

                              Best wishes to all.
